Coming into ASB, our team of executives shared a common goal: bring school spirit back to UPrep. It’s no secret that last year, there was a sharp decline in Puma Pride with the lack of students showing up to sports games and under participation in ASB-planned events.
But you all worked to change this!
You showed up at both homecoming and our first off-campus spring dance in years! A sea of blue flooded the sidelines of the soccer homecoming game, and you packed the dome for the boys basketball senior night. You participated in exciting (and maybe not so well-planned) assembly games, and you all fought hard for Class Cup.
This year, you all embodied what it means to show up and support one another, and gave us a glimpse into our true Puma Pride!
Both of us have deeply enjoyed our time at UPrep, but soon we won’t be here anymore. If there is one last parting piece of advice we can give, it would be this: keep what makes UPrep special.
Keep the sense of community that welcomes all sorts of different people. UPrep and the experience you have here are dictated primarily by the community around you. Each and every one of you shapes this community. Enjoy the ability to build close, authentic relationships with your whole grade. Buy into the little moments or activities, even when they don’t feel cool. We regret the things we didn’t do far more than the things we did. Most of all, be truly proud to be a Puma.
Enjoy every moment because these four years will go so much quicker than you thought possible.
For our upcoming execs, we are incredibly excited to see what you will accomplish next and how you will continue to build off this momentum! We hope that maybe next year you’ll succeed where we couldn’t. #bringbackfunday
