Harry Styles releases his fourth solo album

From One Direction to “Harry’s House”, I’ve always been an avid fan of Harry Styles. In ninth grade, I missed my first UPrep homecoming for a very important event: my first Harry Styles concert. My Styles merch has dealt great blows to my bank account through my years as a fan. I can proudly call myself a Harrie, the name Harry Styles fans give themselves. When Styles announced a fourth album, I knew I had to sit down and review his content.

Best Song to Disco to: ‘Ready, Steady, Go’

Since the album was named “Kiss All the Time. Disco, Occasionally”, I expected Harry to have some songs that would get me up and dancing. While all of his songs had me swaying in my seat, one truly stood out: “Ready, Steady, Go”. The sound of the song was unlike anything I've ever heard from Harry before, with an electronic music feel, while still including some sounds of familiarity. In the middle of the song, Harry sings an angelic tune that reminds me of his song, “Cherry”, from his second album, “Fine Line”. With this song, I feel like I can be partying in some parts while swaying in others. If you want a dance break, put on “Ready, Steady, Go”.

Pulls on the Heartstrings: ‘Paint by Numbers’

One Direction fans and the music industry as a whole were shocked following the 2025 death of Styles’ former bandmate, Liam Payne. In his song “Paint by Numbers”, Styles talks about the pains of growing up and reflecting on childhood nostalgia. He then goes on to sing about a “tragedy” and how the person “wasn’t even 33,” making it safe to assume that he is singing about Payne. While including a heavy subject matter, the song also made me reflect on the relationships in my life and how I've grown up with the people I love. I get sentimental listening to this song because I think of how much I’ve changed and the change that's bound to come.

Wanted More: ‘Season Two Weight Loss’

I know this title definitely caught my attention the first time I saw it announced on Instagram. I initially expected a story about hardship, and how Styles fought to “lose the weight,” but when the track started playing I found myself underwhelmed. The lyrics touch on the idea of show season renewals, and shows receiving more access to more things like personal trainers, stylists etc. However, I found the overall sound of the song very forgetable. I feel like I could turn on the radio and hear ten different songs that all sound like “Season Two Weight Loss”. I expected the unique crescendo of Styles’ song “Fine Line” or the fun moments from “Music For a Sushi Restaurant”—instead I got comfort, something that shouldn’t be in a song titled “Season Two Weight Loss”. I’m sure that with time the song will grow on me, as some of his past songs have, but it really doesn’t stand out in Styles’ repertoire.
