Eighth-grader Beruk Sims’ favorite food is steak.

During quarantine people have been trying many new foods. The foods range from traditional Ethiopian dishes all the way to classic Goldfish crackers.

Eighth-grader Beruk Sims had been eating quite healthy over quarantine. His favorite food hasn’t changed. He has also been trying new dishes as well as sticking to the classics.

“My favorite food is steak and I like it because it’s healthy and has protein,” said Sims. “During quarantine I have tried a few traditional Ethiopian dishes. They were very good.”

Sims has also been snacking on various fruits over this period of isolation. He has a couple snacks he likes more than the others.

“My go to snack has been bananas or mango slices. I would maybe have that snack once a day,” Sims said.

Seventh-grader Emmett Arnold enjoys a lot of food but he has one favorite type of food: Chinese food.

“I don’t have a favorite food, I like all of them,” Arnold said, “but if I had to choose one it would probably be Chinese. I like the salt and dough.”

Just like Sims, Arnold has discovered some new foods as well. He found a new breakfast dish that he really likes.

“I have discovered a breakfast dish called a Dutch Baby,” said Arnold. “It is basically a pancake mixed with a pie. It’s really good.”

He also has a favorite cracker snack that he has been going to a lot.

“My favorite snack has been Goldfish. I eat this snack all the time,” Arnold said.

Sixth-grade P.E. teacher Rebecca Johnson has been eating peanut butter toast a lot for breakfast recently

“I have been eating peanut butter toast on home-made bread with an apple for breakfast every morning. I wouldn’t say it is my favorite of all time, but I am really enjoying it right now!” Johnson said.

Johnson really likes the food because it makes her feel good. She also likes to cook and prepare meals.

“I love the way food makes you feel. I can tell when I am hungry because I feel like I am tired and grumpy, but then I eat something and I start to feel much happier and more awake! Cooking is also really fun for me so preparing food brings me great enjoyment,” said Johnson.

Johnson has been craving one specific food at the moment: ballpark hotdogs.

“I have been craving ballpark hot dogs while I have been in quarantine strangely. Maybe it is because I know that I can not go to the ballpark and get one?” Johnson said.

Johnson has been keeping up the same routine in quarantine by eating a meal or having a snack every 2.5 – 3 hours. She has been eating a little more, though, because she added two meals to her routine.
