We have missed a lot since this coronavirus has started. With the new decade, many thought that this was supposed to be the best year yet. But between the dance being cancelled and online school, our dream of the amazing 2020 was not going to become a reality.

Some people thought our year has been horrible but not others. “This year was going pretty smooth until the outbreak of coronavirus,” eighth-grader Poppy Miller said. Miller still feels that this year could have gone a little better.

Since we are not going to repeat our grade that we are doing right now, part of us might be having mixed emotions about going up a grade,

“I am a little nervous for next year because I am scared that I’ll fall behind during online learning and not be able to keep up, which could cause bigger impacts when it comes to curriculum in the future,” seventh-grader Mojo Woodman, said.

No one thought that coronavirus would take over or even that we would transition to online classes so fast. We all have some regrets.

Woodman says, “I regret that I didn’t cherish and recognize my friends before I wasn’t able to see them as much.”

Miller also worries that she didn’t get to spend time with her friends.

“This year I wanted to hang out more with my friends who are leaving to different high schools, I guess it is disappointing that I won’t have that time with them,” Miller said.

Various middle and high school students are leaving to different schools this year and we won’t get to hang out with them before they leave.

If the coronavirus didn’t arise, then many of us would be going to very fun and exciting places. Woodman was going to go to Italy, but then it fell through.

Sixth-grader Sophie Whittaker says, “During the summer, I was going to do an exchange with a friend in Italy.”

She’s not the only one that had to change their summer plans.

Miller was going to go to New York with her mom for the first time and then got to Boston to visit her sister and then finally go to Africa next year, but sadly had to cancel due to the Coronavirus.
