Merone Goodbye OPED

Being president was more work than I think I was able to handle, and I am super grateful for my right hand man, vice president Charlie Cobb, and the other executives. This year we made it a goal, more than ever, to work as a unit rather than Charlie and me off scheming on our own. I have been a representative and a secretary before, so I knew what it was like to feel like I didn’t have a role. I wanted the goal of this year to be: everyone felt like they were doing something to help the school.

I hope that people feel like this year was good, and if not come and get involved. This year was a transition year, and as much as I want to say it was fantastic, it wasn’t as successful as I had hoped. We had more ideas than time to make things happen and we weren’t able to create as many bonding activities for the community.

That being said, I recommend that next year’s leadership focuses on making what their friends and classmates want to have happen become a reality. ASB is about bringing the community together and making the year memorable. Every time ASB made some sort of a mistake we could have fixed, we would write it out, and we did. We have a list of so many things that I hope whoever the next president is will look at, and have a goal to make more.

I hope you take leadership and initiative and are willing to make the decisions, but also know there are a group of people to help you when you need it. I know U Prep can be a bit overwhelming at times (I’m really trying to make it through these last few weeks), but I will never take for granted how great it is to have a school where everyone is actively working to build a stronger sense of community. I wish you all the best of luck.

I hope that ASB continues to make as much effort as it can to build community, and that people know ASB is working to make everyone’s experience better! Shoutout to everyone on ASB this year. Couldn’t have done it without you guys!!
