Tantalizing Trio of Tastes

We trek through Pike Place Market to find some hidden gems in a forest of food

The Juice Emporium: the staff immediately greeted us and asked us what we would like. They made the drinks in front of us in no time at all, providing fresh and fast service. The prices were reasonable, given that everything was fresh, with smoothies being around $6 each. Their ready supply of fresh fruit allowed for a good-sized menu of varying beverages from teas to juices. We ordered one bubble tea and a smoothie – real raspberry. The bubble tea was smooth, creamy and not overpoweringly sweet, all while tasting like actual tea. The real raspberry was light and refreshing. Overall The Juice Emporium’s commitment to quality earned them an A.

Chicken Valley: Chicken Valley was a lively, energetic and crowded stand. We had to weasel our way through the crowds, only to find that the line was longer than we expected. Once we got through, the service was extremely fast. After looking at the wide selection of fried chicken bits, from basic dishes like drumsticks to more uncommon preparations like fried chicken hearts, we ordered our various fried items and shuffled our way out of the crowd to eat our hot and greasy chicken. The drumsticks and chicken wings exploded with flavor. All of the food items were delicious and crispy. Overall the food at was well prepared and delicious Chicken Valley earned an A.
Bottega Italiana: On the outskirts of Pike Place market lies the little hole in the wall called Bottega Italiana. The inside of the gelato shoppe had a modern feel which encapsulated the personality of the little store. There were a multitude of flavors, ranging from fruity to sweet and savory delights. The polite staff quickly took our orders and served us at the counter. We got sea salt caramel and panna cotta. Both were deliciously creamy and flavorful. The sea salt caramel was salty, yet balanced by sweet overtones. The panna cotta tasted exactly like the Italian cooked cream dessert it’s named for. Overall, the decor, taste, and staff’s enthusiasm earns this gelateria an A.
